Joey Chestnut won the second annual Siegel’s Bagelmania World Bagel Eating Championship in Las Vegas on January 13. The world’s No. 1-ranked competitive eater bested Geoffrey Esper by half a bagel to take the title at the delicatessen and bakery next to the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Half Bird Chicken & Beer from Spaghetti On The Wall Hospitality has opened in Henderson at 725 S. Green Valley Parkway, and the original location in Chinatown has closed. The first spot opened in 2022 at the Center at Spring Mountain. The new store maintains the same menu of rotisserie chicken, sandwiches, nuggets and sides, and it’s open daily from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m.
The creators of El Dorado Cantina have launched a new concept with an emphasis on gaming and sports viewing, The Cantina, open 24 hours a day seven days a week at 8349 W. Sunset Road off the 215 Beltway. The streamlined menu features favorites such as $5 street tacos and a variety of burritos, enchiladas, appetizers and signature margaritas.
Las Vegas Yacht Club, serving seafood and specialty cocktails, has opened at Treasure Island Hotel & Casino on the Strip. Specialty dishes include: the Seven Seas, with lobster, clams, shrimp, mussels, scallops, calamari, fish and rice in a lobster tomato broth; seafood risotto; and Salmon Oscar, with lump crab, asparagus and Hollandaise. The restaurant is open Wednesday through Sunday from 5 until 10 p.m., and the bar is open from 4 until 11 p.m.
Lady M Confections Boutique has opened at Resorts World Las Vegas. The New York City-based luxury brand with boutique locations worldwide is known for handmade cakes and creations that marry French pastry techniques with Japanese sensibilities. Located near the Las Vegas Boulevard entrance next to Fred Segal, Lady M is open daily from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Eataly Las Vegas at Park MGM has joined forces with Urbani Truffles to launch a pop-up restaurant at Eataly’s 12-seat Chef’s Table through February. The experience features nine dishes designed to highlight the taste and fragrance of truffles, and guests will have the option of choosing black (Tartufo Nero) or white (Tartufo Bianco) truffles to each selection. Reservations are not required for the Urbani pop-up, running every Sunday through Thursday from 1 until 8 p.m.
Acclaimed sandwich shop All’Antico Vinaio of Florence, Italy, will celebrate its grand opening January 26 at UnCommons with a free sandwich for the first 100 people in line. The 1,350-square-foot space will be the eatery’s fifth location in the United States, and it will celebrate the opening with a ribbon cutting at 11 a.m.
The 25th annual Vegas Viking Lodge of the Sons of Norway Lutefisk Dinner will be held January 27 with seatings at 2 and 5 p.m. at the Boulder City Elks Lodge. As usual, the menu will consist of lutefisk with melted butter or white sauce, roasted pork, boiled potatoes, peas and carrots, lefse, Norwegian cookies and aquavit. Tickets are $30 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under and they’re available at vegasvikings.org.
Philadelphia favorite Federal Donuts & Chicken is set to open soon in the food court at Red Rock Resort in Summerlin. The menu will include the famous spiced-cake doughnuts served freshly glazed, made-to-order doughnuts tossed in custom spice blends, and hand-battered, twice-fried chicken in sandwiches, salads and tenders.
The 81/82 Group is set to open new breakfast spot Early Birds in March at 5025 Blue Diamond Road. On the menu: pancakes, egg sandwiches, a Croque Madame, chicken and waffles, and lunch dishes like a stacked BLT and a smashburger. Early Birds will be open from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. on weekdays, and 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. on weekends.
